News: Model "3", a 400 mile range Tesla, and a Carbon Fiber Kit
Posted on July 17, 2014 by Matt Pressman
In an interview with Auto Express, Tesla CEO Elon Musk just revealed plans for a new electric BMW 3 series rival, including its name – Tesla Model 3. The new Model 3 is set to be unveiled in 2016 and on sale by 2017. It will be based on an all-new platform, unlike the Model S and X. Musk has made prior references to a price point of $35,000 and a 200 mile range. Auto Express provided their design rendering of what the new “Model 3” might look like (see below).

Musk also revealed: “The [Tesla] Roadster had an old generation battery, we’ll upgrade it to a new generation battery pack and it should have a range of about 400 miles, which will allow you to drive from LA to San Francisco non-stop.”
