"Just applied my exterior upper carbon fiber appliqués [Accent-E, photos below] and want to say thanks. You did a great job with the fit and manufacturing. Really good work that professionally enhances the car. Was really impressed with the nose cone logo piece that fit so well and clean. Stoked." - Greg Vontz, Melo Park, CA
Accent-E provides real carbon fiber appliqués designed for those Model S owners who would like to add easily-installed exterior customization. Accent-E is offered in three options—Upper Exterior Pkg., Lower Exterior Pkg., or Accent-E Complete Set—tabs at right provide further details/visuals. Each individual Accent-E appliqué is fabricated from real carbon fiber, finished with a “domed” high-grade polyurethane coating specially formulated to be abrasion and wear resistant, available in a gloss or matte finish. Each appliqué is backed with an industrial grade permanent adhesive to ensure a strong bond with any automotive surface.
Each Accent-E appliqué is designed and fabricated to fit the unique curves and contours of the Model S and is fabricated using real carbon fiber, finished with a “domed” high-grade polyurethane coating specially formulated to be abrasion and wear resistant. Each appliqué is backed with an industrial grade permanent 3M adhesive to ensure a strong bond.
Accent-E uses a T-300 3K Torayca Carbon Fiber (2x2 twill) which undergoes a comprehensive quality control system that has satisfied audits by various aircraft manufacturers. It's also important to note that the manufacturer of Accent-E is TS16949 / ISO9001-2000 compliant and its fabrication approach and materials used to create Accent-E have been tested and used extensively by a number of automotive OEMs including Toyota, Lexus, and BMW. Engineers utilize the latest in precision design technologies, including laser scanning techniques that accurately and reliably translate the complex geometry of modern automotive exterior components into usable CAD data.
The dimensions of each Accent-E appliqué conforms to the dimensions of the Model S exterior detail that is to be enhanced. For example, the Door Handle accents (a set of 4) have the dimensions and front and back curves of the door handle when it is recessed in the Model S body. Each Accent-E appliqué is approximately 2.7mm thick. Accent-E is offered in distinct packages: see tabs (Upper Exterior and Lower Exterior) at right for details. You may also purchase the 'Accent-E Complete Set'. A complete “shadow image” of all Accent-E individual appliqués is shown below:
The thin profile (2.7mm thick) of each Accent-E appliqué, along with its domed finish ensures that it will have no appreciable impact on airflow over the Model S exterior and therefore, no appreciable effect on drag—one of the key factors that affects the range of the vehicle. There is no discernible increase in wind noise with Accent-E appliqués installed.
Each appliqué is backed with 3M 5849 adhesive, a 20-mil thick, medium-density, dark gray acrylic foam, with TX-1 and DS-4 adhesives on the liner and non-liner sides of the product, respectively.), 3M 5849 is an industrial adhesive layer that is widely used in automotive applications. The adhesive provides a permanent bond to the surface to which it is affixed. The overall cross section of each Accent-E appliqué is shown below:
The Accent-E polyurethane resin surface has been exhaustively tested to ensure that it can stand-up to environmental conditions. The following is an extract from the testing report (using the SAE J1976 protocol):
Automotive grade lensing resins [the specific resins used for Accent-E] exhibited outstanding performance during the “Arizona and Florida Weathering Test”—SAE J1976 Procedure A. This test is considered the industry standard by the major automotive companies. The test was conducted by an independent laboratory and includes 2 years of weathering exposure. In addition to the severe UV exposure, the samples are also exposed to conditions that simulate washing, drying, salt spraying and polishing. At the time of the test, [the specific resins used for Accent-E] surpassed any other similar product ever tested.
Installation of each Accent-E appliqué is straightforward and can be performed as a do-it-yourself (DIY) project. However, for those Model S owners who are not DIY-oriented, Accent-E can be installed by any competent automotive aftermarket custom shop - - often shops that specialize with tint and/or vehicle wraps are most effective. A detailed set of installation instructions is provided with each order. All Accent-E appliqués can be cleaned using soap, water, and a soft, clean cloth. If you'd like to provide a lasting shine and protection, we recommend a hand-spray product called Wax-As-U-Dry produced by Eagle One (TM).
Accent-E carbon fiber is offered in gloss and matte finishes. The photo below provides a rough indication of the difference in the finishes. Overall, gloss "pops" and enhances the look of the carbon fiber; matte is more muted and provides an understated carbon fiber feel.
The Upper Exterior Package provides real carbon fiber appliqués for the Model S upper nose cone, B-pillars and door handles. If you want to give your Model S a distinctive, custom look, the combination of these carbon fiber accents provides the perfect solution.
The Upper Exterior Package includes:
Shadow images of the Upper Exterior package are shown below, followed by photos of the individual appliqués on a Model S. The Upper Exterior Package is available in either gloss or matte carbon fiber finishes.
The Lower Exterior Package provides real carbon fiber appliqués for four lower exterior design elements on the Model S. These accents provide a subtle, but noticeable custom feel and enhance the overall look of your Model S.
The Lower Exterior Package includes:
Shadow images of the Lower Exterior Package are shown below, followed by photos of Accent-E on a Model S. You can order the Lower Exterior Package in either a gloss or matte finish.
Accent-E was designed for those Model S owners who would like to add easily-installed carbon fiber exterior customization for the Model S. Although care must be taken in any do-it-yourself (DIY) job, Accent-E can generally be installed by the Model S owners themselves. For those owners who would prefer professional installation, any competent, automotive aftermarket custom shop can do the install quickly and easily - often shops that specialize with tint and/or wraps are most effective.
Complete installation instructions are provided for each of the Model S packages can be seen or downloaded via PDF files below:

How are these Accent-E packages fabricated and are they real carbon fiber?
Every exterior accent piece is real T-300 3K Torayca Carbon Fiber (2x2 twill). Our unique design and fabrication approach allows us to finish the carbon fiber with a high strength polyurethane coating in either a high gloss or matte finish. The coating is both sun and weather resistant. The coating is “domed” to provide an aesthetic edge finish and a dimensional feel. Each appliqué is then backed with 3M 5849 adhesive, providing a strong permanent bond to the automotive surface.
Can I order these Accent-E packages in a different finish other than carbon fiber?
Accent-E is not offered in alternate color or materials (e.g. to match your Model S exterior body color, wood trims, all-chrome finish, etc). We only offer the Accent-E packages in real carbon fiber in either a gloss or matte finish.
Do you recommend the gloss or matte finish?
We recommend the gloss finish. It tends to reflect light in a manner that really complements the Model S exterior. We've featured the gloss finish in all our photos and video because we feel it better accentuates and enhances the beauty of the Model S. However, we recognize that some Model S owners may prefer a slightly more "muted" matte finish. Therefore, Accent-E can be ordered in matte at a slightly higher price due to a different fabrication process required during its fabrication phase. Note: for reference, we used a matte kit in the Installation Video (see 'Install' tab).
The photo below provides a rough indication of the difference in the finishes. Overall, gloss "pops" and enhances the look of the carbon fiber; matte is more muted and provides an understated carbon fiber feel.
Can I purchase Accent-E pieces individually rather than in a complete package?
We have designed the carbon fiber accent packages to provide the best possible pricing packages for our customers. The additional costs of packaging each appliqué individually and the complexities of inventory control and fulfillment, along with a high probability that most customers will order a number of different and related appliqués were deciding factors as we defined our exterior carbon fiber accent packages. Therefore, Accent-E pieces cannot be purchased individually.
I love the Accent-E packages, however, I'd like to order more carbon fiber pieces for the exterior of my vehicle. Do you make custom orders?
We offer Accent-E only in the packages featured on this website. We tested various exterior carbon fiber "accents" and concluded that the unique packages offered provide the best aesthetic accents to the Model S. It's important to note that we did not create the packages to cover the maximum amount of exterior surface area. Instead, we chose specific accent areas that create a beautiful, yet subtle "look" that is quite different from a complete carbon fiber body kit (which can be a bit more obvious/ostentatious, and, a lot more expensive).
What is the difference between the materials you use and a carbon fiber "wrap" ?
A ‘wrap’ is a very thin vinyl material that is printed with a pattern that looks like carbon fiber. It can be adhered to a surface and provides a simulated, faux-carbon fiber look. But it is not real carbon fiber. A wrap is flat and has no dimensional feel and relatively little visual depth. In general, wraps are installed by professionals, if they span large areas of your vehicle. EVannex’s Accent-E appliqué packages are fabricated with real carbon fiber, finished with a high strength polyurethane coating in either a high gloss or matte finish. The coating is “domed” to provide an aesthetic edge finish and a dimensional feel.
What is the difference between Accent-E and a complete body kit for the Model S?
A complete body kit is typically made of molded components that are physically attached to the Model S by a custom shop. A body kit normally costs quite a bit more and provides a more significant overall exterior modification to your Model S. Accent-E is more subtle, considerably less expensive, and can be DIY-installed in relatively little time. Both add an additional aesthetic element to an already beautiful car. If you're interested in a body kit, please check out our Carbon Fiber Sport Package.
Can I use Accent-E with the Carbon Fiber Sport Package?
Yes. If you purchase both the Accent-E compete package and the Carbon Fiber Sport Package they may be used together, but keep in mind that 2 of 4 pieces that come with the Accent-E Lower Package will no longer be of use (Front Air Dam and Rear Diffuser Accents) as they are part of the Carbon Fiber Sport package. However, the entire Accent-E Upper Package can be used.
Can I install this myself?
Yes. We’ve designed each of the accent pieces for do-it-yourself (DIY) installation. In fact, the only tools you might need are a ruler, a pencil and a level, along with a soft cloth, some masking tape, and a cleaning solution of alcohol and distilled water (readily available at any large pharmacy). We provide you with detailed installation video and written instructions for each piece. If however, you’re just not a DIY person, Accent-E can be installed by any competent aftermarket automotive installer - often shops that specialize with tint and/or vehicle wraps are most effective.
Is it possible to slide and Accent-E piece into place as I position it on the Model S?
In general, the answer is no. The industrial adhesive that we use on each appliqué creates a very strong and permanent bond. The way to position an appliqué is to adhere it only on its edge. That will create a very small contact surface for you to remove it and reposition, if necessary. However, once the appliqué is pressed into place, it is not intended be removed or repositioned. For that reason, you must very carefully align the piece before you adhere it. It is also possible to spray the adhesive surface with distilled water prior to installation. The water will allow you to slide the Accent-E appliqué slightly as you install it and will evaporate allowing the piece to achieve a strong bond. However, even when a water spray is used, adhesion is still rapid and strong, so careful alignment and positioning is essential.
Can you provide a bit more detail about installation?
See 'Install' tab at right for more details. Complete installation instructions, video, and guidelines are also provided with each package; please follow the instructions provided to ensure proper installation.
Can I remove the Accent-E pieces once they are installed?
In order to ensure that the appliqués will not separate from the automotive surfaces as your car is being driven, they have been designed for permanent installation. It is possible, however, to remove an appliqué by heating it with a hair dryer and slowly peeling it off. However, the appliqué will likely be stretched or torn if it is removed, and some adhesive residue may be left on the surface. The residue can be peeled off and the surface cleaned with acetone. It is possible (but unlikely) that the surface might be slightly marred as a result. Therefore, each appliqué should be viewed as a permanent installation. Additional removal instructions are appended to Accent-E installation instructions.
Are the nose cone and rear diffuser appliques edged with real chrome or chrome plated plastic?
Actually, the ‘chrome’ accent on the rear diffuser are separate pieces that are constructed using a chrome-look veneer that is finished with a high strength polyurethane and “domed” to provide the dimensional look and feel of real chrome. The piece is then backed with 3M adhesive. It is installed in the same way that any other appliqué is installed and requires no tools or drilling.
How should I clean the Accent-E pieces?
Soap, water, and a soft, clean cloth should do the trick. If you'd like to provide a lasting shine and protection, we recommend a hand-spray product called Wax-As-U-Dry produced by Eagle One (TM).
Is the Accent-E Upper Exterior package compatible with "Signature" series nose cone designs?
No. The "Signature" cars (first 1,000 or so delivered in the U.S.) had a slightly different nose cone design and that older design is not compatible with our Accent-E Upper Exterior package.
Will the nose cone appliques create an obstruction if I have proximity (parking) sensors installed in my existing Model S nose cone?
No, the nose cone accent is placed above the location of the proximity sensors and will not obstruct them.
Will the nose cone accent create and obstruction if I have a remote radar detector installed in the nose cone?
In general, the answer is no. However, There are many different installation locations for remote radar detectors, so it is impossible to provide a definitive answer. In general, we have found that radar detectors and other devices (e.g., a toll pass transmitter placed in the nose cone) work fine, but we cannot guarantee specific configurations.
Will the addition of any of these packages affect the aerodynamics of the Model S and thereby impact the Model S performance and range?
Each of the appliqués rise from the surface by less than 2.7mm. We’ll admit that we haven’t done wind tunnel tests or computer-based simulations, but because of the low profile of all accent pieces, any affect on aerodynamics of range would be undetectable.
Will the addition of any of these Appliques increase wind noise?
No. The thin profile and tight fit become part of the vehicle surface and will not create any discernible wind nose.
My new Model S has brushed metal door sills. I don't need the carbon fiber door sills included with the package. Can I order Accent-E without door sills?
"Older" Models S vehicles (purchased before December, 2014) have unmarked plastic door sills. The door sills developed as part of Accent E are intended for use on these "older" vehicles and should not be used with "newer" Model S vehicles that have brushed metal "Model S" door sills. All Accent-E packages have the carbon fiber door sills included. If your Model S has brushed metal door sills, these carbon fiber door sills will not fit properly and we recommend that you discard them. Please note that these door sills may not be returned for a pro-rated refund.
How long does it take to receive my Accent-E order?
The delivery time frame for Accent-E is between 2 and 4 weeks (for U.S. orders) from the day you place your order, depending on the number of orders in the production queue.
Does Accent-E ship to International destinations?
Yes, the Accent-E ships internationally using FedEx International. For more information, check out our Shipping and Fulfillment page.
What If I decide I do not like the Accent-E pieces and wish to return them?
BEFORE you install any Accent-E pieces, be sure to assess the look. You can do this using masking tape to attach Accent-E pieces (without removing the red adhesive backing). If you want to do a more complete assessment, you can use double sided masking tape placed directly over the red adhesive backing of the Accent-E pieces. DO NOT remove the adhesive backing until you are satisfied that the look works for you. As long as you have not removed the adhesive backing on any piece, an Accent-E package (not individual pieces) can be returned for a full refund. Accent-E pieces cannot be reused once the adhesive backing is removed, and the backing cannot be replaced once it is pulled off. For that reason, an Accent-E trim package cannot be returned for a refund if the adhesive backing is removed from any one of the Accent-E pieces. Please see the 'Returns' tab at right for more details.
What if I like one of the pieces in my Accent-E package but not the others. Can I return part of the package for a partial refund?
No. You may return the whole package (all pieces) if you follow our return policy instructions (see "Returns" tab), but you cannot return individual pieces within a whole package for any partial refund(s). Please see "Return Policy" below.
Accent-E packages are made from real carbon fiber that has been specially prepared for permanent installation on the exterior of your Model S. We use 3M 5849 automotive adhesive to ensure that your Accent-E pieces will remain securely affixed to your vehicle.
Although Accent-E pieces may look simple, the fabrication costs associated with producing them are substantial.
Once the red adhesive backing has been removed from an Accent-E piece, the entire Accent-E package to which it belongs can no longer be returned for credit or exchange. The reason for this is that the Accent-E piece and the package cannot be reused or resold once the adhesive backing has been removed.
Therefore, please be certain that you’re satisfied with the look and style of your Accent-E package BEFORE you remove the red adhesive backing from any Accent-E piece. You can accomplish this using masking tape to temporarily hold the piece in place or, if you want an even more realistic preview, you can use double-sided masking tape to temporarily affix the piece(s) to assess the look and style. Stated as succinctly as possible, once you remove the red adhesive backing from any Accent-E piece, the Accent-E package is yours—no returns and no credit can be offered.
In 1967, a young refrigeration engineer, Claude Bourquin, recognized the opportunity to start an air conditioning business. Almost 20 years later, he passed the business, Clim Denfert Bourquin, on to his two children, Gilles and Stephanie Bourquin. The business has grown and established showrooms in both Paris and Cannes. We, at EVannex, can appreciate this story as it reflects our own evolving story as a family business. We took special interest in Gilles after he placed multiple orders for so many different products in our store. Gilles is so proud of his Model S carbon fiber accents (with Accent-E) that he sent us some photos after installing a few of our products.
From top to bottom: 1. Gilles' older black Model S (being charged) already has many of our mods which we'll highlight in the other featured photos; 2.
