Stay Cool

25° F cooler on average. The reflective material in our HeatShield sunshades are responsible for dramatic temperature differences in cars parked in the sun. Temperature differences of as much as 40˚ F (25˚ C.) have been measured but you should experience a baseline average temperature reduction of about 25˚ F (11˚ C).

Custom Fit

Fits like a glove. HeatShield is all about accuracy. It’s computer-driven cutting machines are capable of producing a precise fit for the Model S. HeatShield is also designed to slightly overlap the windshield frame to maximize coverage and/or to allow the sun visors to have more material to hold on to.

Strong and Simple. HeatShield is stiff enough to be supported by the sun visors alone, but it is flexible enough to be bent around the rearview mirror. Unroll HeatShield across dash, lift it into place, and drop your sun visors. For storage, roll up and secure with special Velcro strap.

For the Tesla Model S custom sunshades, the HeatShield design approach focused on accuracy, precision, and fitment. Computer-driven cutting machines are utilized to produce precise, consistent HeatShield fitment for every Model S owner that orders.

Gold Series HeatShields are simple to use but they are just as easy to store. Less than 3/16” thick yet stiff enough to stand on their own, HeatShields lay flat or roll up for easy storage. It rolls up with a velcro tie when not in use.

The Gold Series Custom-fit Sunshade by HeatShield is made of a special gold metalized polyester film, laminated to a thin layer of closed-cell foam, with a black polyester film back (for blackout extra cooling effect) sewn around the edge with a black cloth binding.

The front windshield HeatShield sunshade is designed to be supported with sun visors alone. Heatshield’s side and rear window units have 4-5 suction cups for optimal fitment. Note: HeatShields are (depending on placement/install) designed to overlap the windshield frame in places to maximize coverage and to allow the sun visors to have more material to hold on to.

Heatshield has been using specially designed reflective material to protect aircraft cockpits for over 35 years. A few years later, Heatshield decided to start making sunshades for automobiles. For nearly 30 years Heatshield has been keeping cars cooler with the same precision and quality found in aircraft Heatshields. You can be sure that when you purchase a Heatshield brand sunshade from EVANNEX, the same high quality material that protects million dollar aircraft is being used to protect your automobile’s interior. HeatShield is made in Sunnyvale, CA (see below) and the HeatShield material is also made in the USA.

How are HeatShields made?

HeatShields are custom cut using the latest in computer-aided cutting technology.  Then, they are sewn around the edge with a black cloth binding.

In order to fit properly, HeatShield must be bent around my rearview mirror.  Will this harm my HeatShield?

Bending your HeatShield to fit around your mirror is all a part of the simple installation process. HeatShields are designed to fit around the rearview mirror in order to block out as much sunlight as possible.

Which side faces out, the black side or the shiny, reflective side?

The shiny, reflective gold side faces out.

Does the HeatShield block UV rays?

The HeatShield material is designed to reflect the sun away and it does keep harmful UV rays from penetrating and damaging the dashboard, electronics, upholstery and can keep your Model S up to 40 percent cooler.

How should I store my HeatShield?

We suggest you store the HeatShield rolled up—NOT folded. Folding the HeatShield could compromise the integrity of the material and may cause premature wear.

Do you have patterns for side and rear window HeatShields?

Yes, we have side and rear window patterns for the Model S.  Simply select from the pull-down menu (above the orange "Add to Cart" button) which specific sunshade you'd like to order or simply choose the complete sunshade set.

Is there a pattern for the panoramic roof?

Yes, there is a pattern for the panoramic "sun" roof that comes in two pieces to cover both the front seat and back seat areas. You can order it in the pull-down menu.  NOTE: this comes as a two-piece set (covering both parts, front and back, of the panoramic roof); you cannot order just one of the two pieces. Also, you can order a complete set with or without the panoramic roof as labeled in the pull-down menu when ordering.

What is the recommended way to get the suction cups on sunshades to best affix to the windows?

It can help to install the suction cups with the doors closed or to hold the door while installing to make a solid connection. We've heard of customers wetting the suction cups for better suction. Also, try to press directly behind the suction cup in order to get a firm grip/suction on the window too.

My sunshades are curled up a bit, is there a way to get them to flatten a bit?

You might want to roll the sunshades in the opposite direction (black side out) if they have been rolled up for a while. This will help to flatten out the sunshades and make them easier to install and fit better against the windows. Storing them rolled backward every once in a while will also help with this.

I'd like to order a unique combination of sunshades not offered in the pull-down menu above, what do I do?

Simply select the individual sunshade option you'd like and select the "Add to Cart" button.  Next, you'll be able to view your shopping cart to confirm your selection.  Then, simply go back to shopping on the same HeatShield product page and select the other(s) and "Add to Cart" - now you'll see the combination you desire waiting in your shopping cart.  Proceed and follow the prompts to place your order.

What is the Warranty on the HeatShield product?

There is a two-year manufacturer warranty on the HeatShield product.

Is there a return policy for HeatShield Custom Gold Series Sunshade?

You may return your HeatShield, within 30 days of purchase for a full refund.

How long does it take to receive my HeatShield order?

HeatShield orders are processed and shipped within 2 - 4 weeks from date of order.  Note: HeatShield will ship to you via FedEx or UPS.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes!  A significant percentage of our orders are outside of the U.S. and we ship via FedEx or UPS International.

What other Model S owners say about HeatShield

Source: Review from Jorgen Winther-Larsen (via youtube)

“Ordered for and used on my Tesla Model S. Fits great and very effective. The back of my center mirror has a "notch" such that it actually helps holding the sunshade in place without using the left & right sun visors. Doing this will leave a half-inch of space at the top edge but it's not bothering me at all. Or, I simply flip down the left & right sun visors and the whole setup will block almost all of the sunlight. [My own] tips: due to the rigid build of the sunshade (which is a good thing), it would stay rolled up even if you untied the velcro. Therefore, when received as new, unroll and lay it flat, and put some weights on both left and right sides so it stays unrolled and flat for some time (from a few hours to a full day). This process helps the sunshade from curling back, and makes it fit better and stay closer to the windshield when in use. When the sunshade is not in use, I would roll it up "inside out" … such that the next time I put it in use, the reflective side will again stay close with the windshield.” – D. Chan

“Perfect fit. Great sun reflector. Initially stiff to fold, but after it is rolled up a number of times it becomes more flexible.” – Michael G. Gurley

“Fits just right, this sun shield is perfect fit for the Tesla S. I would highly recommend this to anyone who needs a sun shield to protect this awesome car!!” – J. B. Lau

“Fits perfectly, and is very durable.” – S. Dianne Webb

“Homerun. The sunshade is perfect in size and in reducing the heat in the car. I live in Florida. It is also pretty easy to use. I would highly recommend it. I have used others and this is the best.” – Kenneth Sladkin

The Product

As seen in Teslarati

"We all love the ability to cool down our Model S using the smartphone app. Temperatures in closed cars left in a parking lot on a hot day can easily exceed 100° F. Whenever possible I try to find a shady place or a parking ramp to keep things a little cooler. Another way to help control the temperature is to use windshield reflectors also known as sunshades... The Heatshield sunshade is custom-cut for your Tesla Model S making it a near perfect fit. The material on both sides of the product was smooth and even. They have a nice stiffness to them that allows you to bend them into place for maximum coverage.

I recently tested the Tesla Model S custom HeatShield Sunshade. I positioned my Model S in the driveway under a bright, cloudless, southern sky just before noon. The outside temperature was 78° F, which turned out to be the high for the day. The temperature inside my Model S was 74°F when I installed the heat shields. I used my iPhone app to check the interior temperature at various times with the reflectors installed and with them not installed. Here are the results...

Tesla Model S Heatshield temperature app
Tesla Model S heatshield temperature app

Here is what happened to the inside temperature when I removed the shades. Keep in mind the car was not repositioned, the outside temperature remained a constant 78°F and the sky remained cloudless. After removing the reflectors, the temperature soared to over 90°F in less than sixty minutes. The heat shields kept my Model S significantly cooler.

Overall there ended up being a 14° before and after difference. That doesn’t sound like much, but the experience of entering a car that’s 83°F vs. 97°F is drastic. My sunglasses did not fog up when the shields were installed, but instantly did so at the higher temperature. Keeping the car cooler means you will use less battery when you do turn on the AC, which will help with range.

On a hot and sunny day these babies will definitely keep your car cooler..."
