Tesla targets a stylish crowd at New York's Fashion Week

Tesla Motors was involved with a charity benefit a few weeks back that featured a dynamic fashion show in Los Angeles. Now, this week, Tesla has continued it's efforts to get its gorgeous vehicles front-and-center for the fashion forward crowd at New York's fashion week. WWD reports, "Forget Uber or Lyft — this New York Fashion Week Neiman Marcus fashion director Ken Downing has a more exclusive ride. He’s being driven around in Tesla Motors' much-hyped Model X car, which is making its debut in public streets. He has invited several fashion industry friends to ride along with him — the car has seven seats, after all — and is filming their conversations for a series of videos.

WWD explains that, "'Tesla Talks' will feature designers Wes Gordon [see above], Prabal Gurung, Rachel Zoe, and Max Osterweis and Erin Beatty of Suno. 'I’m stopped by everyone inside and outside the Tesla X wanting to know where I got it, and how to get one,' Downing remarked."

In addition to these fashion designers, the Neiman Marcus Fashion Director also got a chance to interview the Editor-in-Chief of Harper's Bazaar, Glenda Baily, and renowned fashion blogger, Tina Craig. And, it turns out this ultra-stylish group really enjoy their time in the Tesla Model X. Tesla's latest initiative could be partly due to last summer's fashion industry executive hire of Ganesh Srivats, a former Burberry senior vice president, who joined the Tesla team in order to, "help Tesla deepen its already formidable brand into a premium lifestyle experience to go with its high-tech image."

This unique alliance between Tesla Motors and Neiman Marcus was "teased" this past week and included a behind-the-scenes video showcasing the Tesla Model X being built at the Fremont factory...

And, according to Car Story, cars and fashion have had a long, storied history together: "Fashion weeks worldwide — New York Fashion Week in particular which is vital to would-be movers-and-shakers across industries in a way that no other fashion week is — are an opportunity for automotive companies to interact with potential buyers in a more exclusive, personalized way... After all, as Leslie Kendall, the curator of the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles says, 'Cars and clothing are two of the most revealing things about a person.'"
