Next Generation: Millennials look towards Tesla and an electric vehicle future [Infographic]

Are Millennials the keystone to electric vehicle growth in the next decade? News18 reports, "Millennials believe that switching to a greener car is the biggest single contribution they can make to the planet's future sustainability. According to a study of 2,500 18-to-34-year-olds across the UK, Spain, Germany, France and Italy, 76% think that getting behind the wheel of a hybrid plug-in electric car is the key to making their lives more environmentally friendly. Over three-quarters of European Millennials (77%) already own a car but almost two-thirds of that group are prepared to go hybrid within the next decade while over half would consider a fully electric model before 2026.

Although the research study cited was commissioned by Nissan's Intelligent Motoring Advisory Board, their findings could certainly bode well for Tesla. Furthermore, when it comes to investing in their future, Millennials are choosing Tesla Motors [NASDAQ: TSLA] as a must-have investment in their stock portfolio. CNBC reports that among, "the stocks that millennials love to buy... [one of] their favorites is Tesla." Furthermore, they report that an: "argument for paying up for Elon Musk's automaker is the clean energy play... [and] Boomers also like electric cars, to an extent. Tesla was the 10th most-traded stock for that age group but didn't make the list of top 10 stocks bought. The electric car maker is ninth on the millennials' top-traded list and 10th most-bought."

So, are Millennials really onto something — in the battle for automotive supremacy, does the future belong to electric vehicles (EVs)? I spoke with Rebecca Hill at Auto Loan Solutions who noted that, "In Japan, Tesla Supercharger stations currently outnumber gas stations... Sweden has adopted the world’s first e-highway, and companies like UPS and Gnewt Cargo are [already] using EV fleets." To showcase how likely an electric vehicle future is fast-approaching — Hill forwarded me their infographic, 8 Reasons EVs are the Future, that compiles key information about Tesla, electric vehicles, and their all-important role in building a sustainable future.
