Fake Tesla Model 3 Video? Real Model 3 news.

As we reported last week, there's so much excitement surrounding the Tesla Model 3 that some phony images have been "leaked" to the press. Luckily, members of the media were astute enough to realize they were viewing a photoshop fake. Since then, there have been a few more intriguing images floating around the web. Some of these images aren't so bad. I reposted a design concept rendering by Some Design (see below) on Instagram, and, I received 25 comments -- most of the comments were pretty positive.

In their description, Some Design noted that the concept rendering was done for the Toronto Star. Shortly after we reposted it, they reached out to us via Instagram and commented, "A bit more details on the concept: smaller sedan with similar hatch trunk like Model S, new headlight style similar to Model X, Elon did regular doors, falcon wing doors, so why not suicide doors now?" In our opinion, this is one of the better designs we've seen conjured up so far. However, we cannot make the same claim about this super-phony Tesla Model 3 video we just stumbled across...

Wait a sec. Would Tesla ever use regular door handles? And, after the Model X front grille redesign, would Tesla really go back in time to a black plastic nose cone look? And... would Tesla make bulky headrests separate from the rest of the seat? I think the fakers at Viral Video Lab didn't do their homework when they created this phony video. Why is chrome only at the bottom of the windows instead of outlining the entire window area like on the Model S and Model X... and where is that little triangle-like Tesla chrome accent angled above the front wheel?  I could go on and on... lots going wrong here. And that's not it. Still images like the one below are starting to infiltrate social media...

Nevertheless, we do have some real news today directly from Tesla Motors*. According to Tesla's blog post earlier today, "There are two ways to make a reservation. The first, which will allow you to get a better spot in the queue, is to visit your local Tesla store when it opens on March 31st... The second is to make a reservation online at Tesla.com when the live unveil starts at 8:30pm PT. In order to be as fair as possible, there will be a different queue for each region. And as a thank you to our current owners, existing customers will get priority in each region, meaning that the fastest way to buy a Model 3 is to buy a Model S or Model X."

Tesla also provides some information regarding sequencing of Model 3 deliveries by location: "When production begins, we will begin deliveries in North America starting on the West Coast, moving east. As we continue to ramp production, we will begin deliveries in Europe, APAC and right-hand drive markets. It is not possible to ship to all regions simultaneously because regulators in each part of the world have slightly different production requirements. Staggering deliveries in this way also allows us to provide the best possible customer experience."

Yes, we all appreciate the updates on ordering the Tesla Model 3... but Tesla fans want something more. Tesla: can you please publish a teaser video and/or photo(s) so we can start to guess what this car really looks like? Until then, we're left with fanboy design attempts -- some good, and some... ummm, not so good.
