Ford is doubling down on its electric vehicle strategy by extending its Power Promise program until September 30, aligning with the expiration date of federal EV tax credits worth up to $7,500. Originally set to end last month, this initiative has been a standout offering in the EV market, giving buyers of new Ford electric vehicles a complimentary Level 2 home charger and free installation—an expense that can otherwise cost thousands of dollars.
Who’s Eligible and What’s Included?
The program remains available to customers purchasing or leasing a new 2025 F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E, or E-Transit Cargo Van through a participating Ford dealership. With the extension, Ford is aiming to keep electric vehicle adoption appealing and accessible, especially as consumer uncertainty around the future of EV incentives grows.
Ford’s Commitment to Affordability
"While the landscape for electric vehicle incentives may be changing, Ford is stepping up to ensure that making the switch to electric remains both accessible and advantageous for consumers," said Ford spokesperson Maria Buczkowski in a recent statement. According to Ford, drivers can save anywhere from $26 to $55 per charge compared to filling up a gas tank, depending on vehicle and electricity rates.
Thousands Already Benefiting
Ford has already installed more than 10,000 home chargers across all 50 states, a significant milestone that underscores its commitment to easing the transition to EVs. The inclusion of a home charger and professional installation is particularly valuable for new EV owners, who may be overwhelmed by the complex and costly process of sourcing and installing charging equipment. Installation costs alone can range from $2,000 to $10,000 depending on the home's electrical setup.
Charging Access and Battery Coverage
Beyond the home charging benefit, Ford EV buyers also gain access to a vast public charging network—including compatibility with Tesla’s Supercharger network. Each Ford EV also comes with a 10-year battery warranty that guarantees 90% battery health up to 100,000 miles. Industry data suggests many EV batteries can surpass 200,000 miles with 80% or more capacity still intact.
Act Before September 30
With less than three months remaining, this may be the best window for prospective EV buyers to take advantage of both generous federal tax incentives and Ford’s expanded Power Promise. After September 30, both offers are slated to expire.
