NOTE: Compatible with 18" and 19" factory Tesla Model 3 wheels.
Specifications
Performance Caliper Covers are manufactured with aluminum. The manufacturing process utilizes CNC machining, hydraulic forming (to provide a surface shape that is remarkably similar to Tesla's OEM calipers), TIG welding for strength, powder coating for durability, and a patented 304 stainless steel fastening system for optimal fitment. No adhesive, tape, or caliper modifications are required. Performance Caliper Covers have been engineered specifically for the the Tesla Model 3 to ensure proper clearance and a secure fit. The included stainless steel fastening system is also specific to the Model 3 factory brake caliper.
Dimensions • Front covers: 295mm L × 100mm W × 100mm H • Rear covers: 265mm L × 115mm W × 82mm H • Thickness: 1.5mm to 2mm
Performance Caliper Covers are engineered, developed, and manufactured under strict quality control guidelines and procedures. Every order that ships is hand-inspected for quality and accuracy. In addition, Performance Caliper Covers are tested regularly for safety and quality at the OEM level.
Features
ENHANCE THE LOOK
Designed and tested to specifically fit over Tesla Model 3 stock factory brake calipers, Performance Caliper Covers provide a “big brake” race-ready look that will turn heads. In fact, many want caliper covers for appearance. To that end, Performance Caliper Covers don't just hide an unattractive part, but create a unique look of their own.
REDUCE BRAKE DUST
These Performance Caliper Covers not only look fantastic, but they also act as a protective brake dust shield to help keep your rims looking cleaner longer. In other words, far less time spent cleaning intricate wheel designs. If you're fastidious about your wheels, then you know what kind of problem brake dust can be. Performance Caliper Covers direct the air and dust toward back side of wheel, keeping the front of the wheel much cleaner.
HEAT DISSIPATION
Your calipers will also run cooler with Performance Caliper Covers. Field testing Performance Caliper Covers with an infrared heat detector, there was anywhere from a 20-50 degree difference in brake temperatures. The increased surface area in direct contact with your brake calipers provides a very large heat sink for your brakes.
Performance Caliper Covers give the heat your brakes build up a way to dissipate out of the system more rapidly. Lower overall temperatures could, in turn, give your Model 3 less brake fade potentially resulting in better/shorter stopping distances, increased brake pad life, increased brake rotor life, and reduced rotor warpage.
Installation
Professional Installation is highly recommended.
Installation Guide
Installation time: Average installation time is about one hour.
Tools required: Safety glasses, floor jack, wrench (included with set). Note: no special tools, adhesive, or caliper modification required for installation.
Performance Caliper Covers have been designed for optimal fitment for both 18" and 19" Model 3 factory wheels.
What if I have aftermarket wheels?
Performance Caliper Covers are designed for a close fit. If you have aftermarket wheels and would like to determine whether you have enough clearance, measure from the back of the wheel to the front of the caliper. If you have 1/8" (approximately 3mm) of clearance, then you have enough space. Another way to test for the proper clearance: if you can slide two stacked quarters between the brake caliper and the wheel, then you should have enough clearance. IMPORTANT: If your Model 3 has aftermarket wheels, it is your responsibility to verify a 3mm clearance prior to placing the order. Because of the vast variety of aftermarket wheels, it is imperative that this be executed before an order is placed.
When using regenerative braking with my Model 3, will brake dust or heat dissipation still be factor?
You'll still use your brakes, but it's true you'll use your brakes less in a Model 3 than someone driving a gas-powered internal combustion engine vehicle due to regenerative braking.
To get that "pop" of color, can't I just order red calipers with my Model 3?
At this time, Tesla OEM red calipers can be ordered ONLY with the Performance version of Model 3.
What about painting my calipers?
You can try painting your calipers but be prepared for a lot of work. First, you'll need to get the whole car up on jack stands. Then you'll have to decide whether to paint them in place or disassemble them. Either way, everything will have to be completely clean or the paint won't stick. If you're painting the calipers in place, you'll need to use a brush, but there will be areas that will be hard to get to. Performance Caliper Covers provide a more convenient and cleaner approach. They'll also look a lot better than a paint job.
Can I purchase aftermarket brake calipers instead?
Aftermarket calipers can certainly provide a different look, and, depending on the brand, they might work better than your stock calipers, but the high price point (sometimes thousands of dollars) for aftermarket brake calipers should only be considered if you mainly want an upgrade in brake function.
Why not install custom plastic brake covers?
Installing plastic covers on brake calipers is discouraged by many in the industry. The reason: a brake system converts the forward motion of the vehicle into heat by pressing the brake pads against the rotors, the plastic could melt causing your brakes to malfunction. In addition, be prepared to spend time trying to fabricate them to fit, often difficult installation, and, not worth the hassle. And, post-installation, it can be difficult getting them to stay in place.
Do caliper covers form-fit to the surface shape of my calipers like plastic brake covers?
No. Performance Caliper Covers simply cover what many consider an unattractive part of the wheel—the brake caliper.
Will the coating on my caliper covers hold up to the heat?
Performance Caliper Covers are powder coated for high heat, durability, and toughness.
Are caliper covers removable for brake service?
Yes. Reverse installation to remove, and then reinstall after service.
Can I order one with a color of my choice?
No. Our Performance Caliper Covers are available in Red or Yellow only.
Does the red used on Performance Caliper Covers perfectly match the Tesla red body paint?
No, the red used for Performance Caliper Covers is called “Red Baron.” It is a fairly standard color used by most of the popular big brake companies. Nearly all customers with red cars are perfectly fine with this color. Since the brakes are not against the body of the vehicle, the red being slightly different is not very blatant or obvious. According to our customers, it blends in nicely and looks very sharp. However, this is subjective.
Can I install caliper covers myself?
Professional installation is highly recommended. Instructions will be provided with the product for the installer and instructions are also available in digital format under our "Instructions" tab. Note: professional installation of Performance Caliper Covers should take 45 minutes - 2 hours depending on the experience of the installer.
Where can I find a professional installer?
In every area, there are competent wheel and tire service centers/shops that have a specialty in aftermarket product installation. These installers tend to be the most adept at installs like Performance Caliper Covers. However, it is imperative you ask your installer to follow the instructions provided. Note: although we've had reports of some customers having their aftermarket products installed at a Tesla Service Center, in general, this is unlikely as their policy is not to install aftermarket parts.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes! We ship the Performance Pedal Covers internationally.
