Auto legend Koenigsegg inspired by Tesla and Elon Musk

Previously, we examined if automotive legend, Christian von Koenigsegg, used the Tesla Model S as inspiration for his latest $1.9 Million supercar, the Koenigsegg Regera. Koenigsegg (CEO of the sports car maker Koenigsegg Automotive AB) is the brains behind of some of the world's fastest production supercars... ever. In fact, at one point Koenigsegg held the Guiness World Record for the fastest production car on the planet until the record was broken by the Bugatti Veyron. We concluded, from various past interviews, that the Tesla Model S was a key catalyst and source of inspiration for Koenigsegg.

Well... if you didn't believe us before, just wait until you check out these videos posted on the youtube channel* dedicated to all things Koenigsegg. According to the channel's own descriptions, Christian von Koenigsegg is a big fan of electric cars, Elon Musk, and Tesla Motors. He attended the Tesla Supercharger opening ceremony in Karlstad, Sweden as a representative of Swedish Tesla owners and was the first to use the new supercharger station. Check out the video below...

Christian von Koenigsegg has also revealed that he sees zero-emission vehicles becoming a dominant form of transport by 2020. As manufacturer of some of the world’s fastest supercars, it may come as a surprise to learn that Koenigsegg thinks electric cars are the future. However, several years ago, Koenigsegg partnered with a startup company in an attempt to launch a new electric sports sedan. And, later, Koenigsegg attempted to take control of fellow Swedish automaker Saab in order to build electric cars. Yet, the biggest indicator that Koenigsegg is keen on electric cars may be the fact that he personally took delivery of a Tesla Model S in his native Sweden, a car he ordered more than 18 months ago.

Koenigsegg has reportedly said that there was no better car than the Tesla Model S in its price range and that it was very affordable given its performance. He's also said that one of the best sports sedans on the market, the BMW M5, accelerates slower, handles more poorly and isn’t as fun to drive as the Model S. Also in another revealing video on the channel, Koenigsegg describes his admiration for Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk confirming that he's a "role model" and admitting he's "fascinated by Elon Musk" and his achievements (see below).

Although the Tesla Model S consistently gets awards and accolades from the media, it's quite an honor to hear such praise from an automotive industry icon like Koenigsegg as he shows his admiration for both the Tesla Model S and Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk.
