Tesla Photographer: An inside look at his personal portfolio [Tesla Eye Candy 63]

If you're a regular reader of our Tesla Eye Candy installments, you know we always try to curate the best Tesla images on Instagram and feature one (or more) cool must-see videos. A confession. We always say how great Tesla owners photograph Elon Musk's electric vehicles. Well... today, it's time to admit that the pros really do have an edge. Looking through Instagram, shock and awe set in when a rare, undiscovered black-and-white photo of a Tesla Model 3 popped up. Turns out that the IG poster was none-other-than legendary automotive photographer Anton Watts*. 

So I checked out Watts' site and his cheeky bio explains: "Anton was born in Australia in 1973, pitched up in London in the late 1990s, and wasted no time forging a remarkable reputation for himself, in both the editorial and advertising worlds. Now residing in Los Angeles, Anton is married and has somehow persuaded his wife that having two children with him was a good idea... Anton spends the weekend on the beach proving surfing is not genetic for Australians."

Watts seems like a really cool guy. And, I must admit his portfolio had me awe-struck. Yes, he’s shot for Porsche, Mercedes, BMW, Jaguar, and many others. But, we’re most interested in his work for Tesla. Looks like he is too. A Tesla Model X gets top billing as his leading home page image (see first photo below). He's showing off his reservation confirmation for his Tesla Model 3 on Tumblr too. And on Instagram he just tagged the photo (see above) with #tesla3 yep! My car! -- well... Anton, welcome to the club. So without further ado, here are some curated images from his Instagram feed and portfolio online. Let's start with some Tesla Model X photos that I haven't come across anywhere online...

Wow... yes, these photos are absolutely stunning. This is truly the textbook definition of Tesla Eye Candy. Next up, are some gorgeous Tesla Model S photos. Unlike the rare Model 3 and Model X images above, you've probably seen these Model S images on Tesla's website a ways back, but, they're so beautiful I wanted to post them in the gallery below. And, to check out how some of these Model S photos here were shot, we've got a great video Watts filmed, just scroll down.

As promised, I've also included a behind-the-scenes video, produced by Phase One, from a prior Tesla Model S photo shoot (looks like some of the final images are above). Anton Watts put together this film footage to showcase how he and his team executed his dynamic photo shoot for Tesla with Watts' Phase One IQ250 camera system. Enjoy!
