Watch the new Tesla Model Y's taillight create a glow behind it in the dark

Tesla has released a new video of the 2025 Tesla Model Y Juniper showcasing the glow function of its taillight strip. This light reflects on the surface behind the vehicle.

This is an interesting eye candy feature that’s bound to attract car enthusiasts who love to customize their vehicles to make them more visually appealing and unique.

Tesla Model Y Juniper features light strips both on the front and rear fascias. These light strips are part of Tesla’s new design theme that first appeared on the Cybertruck, then on the Cybercab robotaxi prototypes, and now on the 2025 Model Y Juniper.

“Model Y had a glow-up. The first indirect reflective body-panel taillight of its kind,” Tesla posted on X via its official account.

The glowing and reflective rear light strip on the new Model Y is a subtle feature that’s hard to detect in the daylight. The video that the automaker posted to demonstrate the glowing Model Y taillights is shot in the dark.

Tesla’s Chinese customer base is a fan of car mods. Getting a glowing taillight right out of the factory would certainly appeal to potential Chinese Model Y buyers.

In 2020, Tesla started its official car wrap service in China for the first time ever because of local demand for such services. I think this is an attractive new feature that only Tesla is offering in a production vehicle — the new Model Y Juniper.

Tesla launched the Model Y Juniper in China and Asia earlier this month. The US-based EV automaker received more than 100,000 orders in less than 2 weeks.

Last week, Tesla launched the new Model Y Juniper in North America as customers held new orders waiting for the electric vehicle to be available for sale in the region.
