What is the difference between semi floating and fully floating rotors?

The primary difference between semi-floating and fully floating rotors lies in their heat management approach. Fully floating rotors maximize heat isolation from the hub by separating the hat from the rotor using floating hardware. The 2-piece design allows the rotor to expand and contract through heat cycling on and off hard braking which greatly reduces the opportunity for cracking on the rotor surface. Semi-floating rotors share this heat expansion benefit!
