Okay, we admit -- it's fun to geek out over Tesla's breakthrough electric vehicle designs, especially the original design concepts for these two gorgeous cars. So, in order to get to the root of the design aesthetic Tesla conceptualized, let's check out the original design sketches of the Tesla Model S and Model 3 from Tesla chief designer Franz von Holzhausen. Okay, let's take it even further... let's rewind all the way back to the electric car's humble beginnings 188 years ago. Check out how electric vehicles have evolved over time in this one stunning GIF, starting with Ányos Jedlik's all-electric model in 1828 all the way through to GM's EV1 to the Nissan Leaf, and of course (our favorites) the Tesla Roadster, Model S, and Model 3 today...

I know what you're thinking... what about Model X? How dare we leave Tesla's iconic SUV out of the visual fun here? Well, for the Model X, there is an amazing virtual 3D model that we've featured previously. And, with all the amazing design goodness on the Model X, it likely wins for possessing the most game-changing features of them all. And, check out the genesis of Tesla Model X's design concept from Franz von Holzhausen. See below for design sketches captured on a lithograph from the X launch event.

There are more early Model X design renderings floating around too, albeit with the earlier front end. In any event, Tesla chief designer Franz von Holzhausen has created a distinct, powerful, and elegant style for Tesla Motors. And, he should be credited with making the electric vehicle sexy, or... ummm S3XY, once the Tesla Model Y finally comes out.

Well, there you have it. Plenty of Tesla eye candy. Now let's go try some Tesla cookies...
