2025 Ramcharger 1500: The Hybrid Pickup Revolutionizing Half-Ton Hauling

2025 Ramcharger 1500: The Hybrid Pickup Revolutionizing Half-Ton Hauling

Question: What do modern trains and the all-new 2025 Ramcharger pickup have in common?

Answer: Their drivetrains.

Expected to roll out early next year, the new 2025 Ramcharger 1500 pickup boasts a first of its kind all-electric hybrid drivetrain system. Like the diesel engines roaring inside those trains going by, the sole purpose of the Pentastar 3.6 liter V-6 tucked inside this Ramcharger is to power a 130-kilowatt generator, sending massive current to a pair of electric motors.  This new system not only provides the tremendous torque of an electric motor, but with access to gas stations, it offers half-ton haulers an unlimited range.

With its impressive 663 horsepower and stunning 615 pound-feet of torque, expect the 2025 Ramcharger 1500 to be the best in its class.  Even more impressive is the quick-charge battery system. Capable of delivering 145 miles of battery operation before engaging the gas generator, Ramcharger delivers a combined gas-electric range of 690 miles.

While official pricing for the 2025 Ramcharger has yet to be released, expect a starting price around $60,000, with the premium Tungsten Edition likely reaching upwards of $78,000.

While this advanced drivetrain marks Ram’s first plug-in hybrid design, the rest of the truck remains standard Ram 1500, with its body-on-frame construction, independent rear air spring suspension, and the brand’s popular kneeling mode which lowers the truck when parked for easy cab and bed access.

It’s been a long time coming, but finally seeing a truck that bridges the gap between power and sustainability means the market is turning a much-needed corner. Ram’s approach to sustainable hauling proves we can incorporate the best of both worlds. Ramcharger’s impressive 2,625-pound payload and 14,000-pound towing capacity will suit truck enthusiasts in need of serious hauling capabilities, while a smaller displacement engine and 145 mile battery range makes it a big win for environmentalists. The 2025 Ramcharger’s blend of power and innovation shows that the future of trucks can be both robust and responsible, and with any luck, we’ll see other truck makers following suit as they seek to reduce their carbon footprints without impacting the real-world capabilities of their all-terrain trucks.
