Elon Musk Mandates FSD Demonstrations for New Tesla Owners

In a bold move to showcase Tesla’s advancements in autonomous driving, CEO Elon Musk has issued a direct order that could change the delivery experience for many customers. According to a recent Bloomberg report, Musk has decreed that all new Tesla vehicles in North America must come with the latest Full Self-Driving (FSD) package, version 12.3.1, pre-installed and activated for a demonstration before the car is handed over to its new owner.

This initiative aims to provide customers with a firsthand look at the capabilities of Tesla’s FSD technology. Despite acknowledging that this requirement may introduce delays in the delivery process, Musk is convinced that witnessing the FSD in action will persuade more buyers to invest in the $12,000 upgrade.

The FSD V12.3.1 is the latest iteration of Tesla’s ambitious self-driving package, which promises to enable vehicles to “drive themselves almost anywhere with minimal driver intervention.” This feature was made available as beta software to all U.S. customers in 2022 after a period of closed trials. However, it’s important to note that the FSD has yet to achieve the level of autonomy that Musk has long envisioned.

Prospective Tesla owners are advised to approach Musk’s promises with caution. While the CEO touts the FSD’s potential profitability, the technology still falls short of full autonomy. Nonetheless, the new policy underscores Tesla’s confidence in their self-driving system and its performance under supervision.

As Tesla continues to push the envelope in electric vehicle technology, the world watches with anticipation to see if the FSD will live up to its promises. With Musk’s latest directive, more people will have the opportunity to experience the future of driving — but will it be enough to convince them to upgrade? Only time will tell.
