Tesla Just Launched the Model Y L Accessory Shop

Tesla Just Launched the Model Y L Accessory Shop

If you have been waiting for the Model Y L, here is a sign that things are moving. Tesla launched a dedicated Model Y L accessories section on the US Tesla Shop this week, stocking it with products designed specifically for the larger six-seat SUV. First deliveries in the US are expected to begin later this month, and the accessory launch is the clearest signal yet that Tesla is getting ready.

When Tesla opens a dedicated accessory shop for a new vehicle, it typically means production is ramping and deliveries are imminent. The same pattern played out in China, where the Model Y L accessories launched just weeks before the first customer handoffs began. US buyers are now at that same point.

So what is actually in the shop? Tesla has covered the essentials for a family-focused SUV. The lineup includes all-weather interior liners, trunk and seatback liners, front, roof, and rear liftgate sunshades, the kind of practical protection most owners want from day one. Rear door sill guards at $95 make a lot of sense on a three-row SUV where rear passengers are getting in and out more often. A pair of moulded trunk storage bins at $80 are designed to make the most of the cargo space behind the third row. A parcel shelf for behind the third row at $125 gives the cargo area a cleaner look and some added privacy. A fitted outdoor car cover rounds things out at $195.

The roof rack is the standout addition for families planning adventures. According to Tesla's official product listing:

"The Model Y L Roof Rack is rated to carry up to 165 lbs (75 kg), making it compatible with bikes, kayaks, luggage carriers, and roof boxes."

At $500, it opens up the Model Y L for the kind of family road trips the three-row SUV was built for in the first place. It is the accessory that turns a practical family hauler into something a lot more versatile.

Not everything that appeared in China's Model Y L shop has made it to the US yet. Privacy shades for the side windows and the Model Y L air mattress, both popular in China, are still missing from the US lineup. Those could arrive in a future update to the shop as Tesla expands the accessory range, but buyers hoping to grab them at delivery will need to wait a little longer.

One thing worth knowing is that not every accessory needs to be Model Y L-specific. Several products designed for the regular Model Y carry over, including frunk bins, console organizers, and smaller interior items. Tesla's vehicle-to-load adapter also works with both vehicles, so existing Model Y accessory owners are not starting from scratch.

The Model Y L itself is a genuinely different vehicle from the standard Model Y. Tesla stretched the wheelbase by approximately seven inches, bringing total length to just under 196 inches and adding a proper third row with six seats in a 2-2-2 configuration. It is built at Gigafactory Texas for US buyers and carries an EPA range rating of 332 miles on 19-inch wheels, which actually beats the standard Model Y Premium AWD by five miles despite being larger and heavier. The Launch Series starts at $61,990 and includes Full Self-Driving Supervised, free Supercharging, and Premium Connectivity out of the box.

For buyers who placed early orders, delivery windows are already showing up in Tesla accounts, with some September slots reported for the earliest reservation holders. Launch Series inventory is also getting close to exhausted, so buyers still on the fence about the fully loaded version may not have much time left before it sells out and more affordable configurations take over.

For anyone expecting a Model Y L in their driveway this fall, now is a good time to browse the shop and decide what you want ready on day one.
