Tesla Launches Upgraded Model 3 Highland in North America with Pricing and RWD/AWD Variations
In a notable development, Tesla has officially introduced the upgraded Model 3, known as the Model 3 Highland, to the North American market. The latest iteration is now available for purchase in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Puerto Rico, signaling the end of the previous Model 3 era.
Key Features:
The Model 3 Highland showcases improvements in its range, boasting up to 341 miles per charge. The exterior has undergone a redesign to enhance aerodynamics, introducing two new color options and optimized wheels. Inside, the cabin receives updates, including customizable ambient lighting, ventilated seats, an 8" rear display, and wireless charging pads.

Performance Variants and Pricing:
Available in two variants—Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) and Long Range Dual Motor All Wheel Drive (AWD)—the Model 3 Highland is priced at $38,990 and $45,990, respectively. Notably, the Performance trim is currently under development, and the previous Model 3 Performance is being offered at a discounted rate, with an additional IRA tax credit.

Pricing Strategy and Considerations:
Despite the enhancements, the Model 3 Highland does not qualify for the IRA tax credit, impacting its overall cost. Tesla, however, maintains consistent pricing, possibly influenced by the substantial upgrades introduced. Comparatively, the Model Y, benefiting from the tax credit, poses a competitive pricing alternative.
Leasing Dynamics:
Leasing the Model 3 Highland remains an option for those seeking flexibility, still allowing for the IRA tax credit. However, Tesla's leasing policy prohibits purchasing the vehicle at the lease's end, which may influence potential lessees' decisions.
Industry Observations:
The Model 3 Highland's North American debut aligns with Tesla's commitment to transforming the automotive industry. Beyond the marketing buzz, it reflects a step forward in sustainable transportation, combining enhanced performance and refined features.
As the Model 3 Highland hits North American roads, it underscores Tesla's ongoing effort to redefine electric vehicles, catering to a market that seeks both efficiency and affordability.
