Tesla Model Y 2024 Earns Top Safety Pick+ Rating in IIHS Crash Tests

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has awarded the Tesla Model Y 2024 with its prestigious "top safety pick+" designation, recognizing the electric SUV's exceptional performance in crash tests. Despite more stringent eligibility criteria, the Model Y 2024 achieved near-perfect scores, solidifying Tesla's reputation for producing some of the safest vehicles on the road.

The IIHS recently unveiled its latest round of safety ratings, featuring tougher standards than previous years. Out of the 22 vehicles honored with the "top safety pick+" award, the Model Y 2024 stood out for its superior protection of both occupants and pedestrians.

David Harkey, President of IIHS, praised this year's winners for their outstanding safety features, emphasizing their commitment to safeguarding drivers and vulnerable road users alike.

According to the IIHS report, the Model Y 2024 excelled in nearly every category, with top ratings across the board. Notably, the vehicle received a perfect score in small overlap front tests for both the driver and passenger sides, as well as in moderate overlap front and side impact tests.

While Tesla's performance in the "headlights" category fell short of perfection, the Model Y 2024 still achieved commendable results overall. Additionally, the vehicle's standard front crash prevention system, rated as "Superior" for both pedestrian detection during the day and at night, further underscores its commitment to safety.

The Tesla Model Y 2024's exceptional performance in IIHS crash tests reaffirms its status as a leader in automotive safety. With top-notch protection features and advanced safety technology, the Model Y continues to set the standard for safety in the electric SUV segment.
