The Cybertruck Is Finally Getting Actually Smart Summon
Cybertruck owners, this one has been a long time coming.
Tesla confirmed this week that Actually Smart Summon (A.S.S) is rolling out to the Cybertruck. It is one of the most requested FSD features for the truck, and it is finally happening more than two years after it landed on every other Tesla vehicle.
The announcement came in classic Tesla fashion. The official Cybertruck account on X set the tone with two posts that said everything you need to know:
"Give me a booty call."
"Summon for Cybertruck rolling out shortly."
Tesla also dropped a video showing the truck navigating a parking lot completely on its own, backing out of a parking stall, turning a corner, and pulling up to meet its owner. No one behind the wheel.
If you have never used Actually Smart Summon before, here is the simple version. You open the Tesla app, hold the Summon button, and the truck drives itself to wherever you are standing. It works in parking lots and private driveways, stays within about 65 meters of your phone, and stops the moment you let go of the button. That is it. It sounds simple but it is genuinely useful, especially on a rainy day, in a packed parking lot, or any time you just do not feel like walking to where you parked.
So why did it take so long? The Cybertruck is not like any other Tesla. Its steer-by-wire system, rear-wheel steering, and sheer size meant Tesla could not just copy the software from a Model Y and call it a day. Engineers had to retrain the AI specifically for how the Cybertruck moves, brakes, and navigates tight spaces. That takes time.
There is also something worth appreciating in how Tesla handled the wait. Rather than releasing an older, less capable version of the feature just to tick a box, Tesla skipped its previous generation summon software entirely and waited until it could deliver the latest version built on the same AI architecture that powers modern FSD. Cybertruck owners are not getting a hand-me-down. They are getting the best version of the feature that exists right now.
The timing also works in their favor. The rollout follows FSD version 14.3.3, which brought meaningful improvements to how Actually Smart Summon responds and moves across the whole Tesla fleet. So the version Cybertruck owners are about to receive is already better than what other Tesla owners had when they first got it.
To use it, you will need an active FSD Supervised subscription and the latest software on both your vehicle and the Tesla app. No firm date was given beyond "shortly," so keep an eye on your app for the update.
Worth the wait.
