The EVANNEX Lighted 'T' is a subtle yet unique way for you to add a bit of extra flair at the rear of your Model 3. When illuminated at dusk or at night, the Lighted "T" gives your Model 3 a head-turning effect. This lighting modification, custom designed exclusively for Model 3, provides a lighted halo effect around the Tesla 'T' logo area. The Lighted 'T' adds a striking accent to the back of your Model 3, but does it in a tasteful and understated manner.
The Lighted "T" is a custom design made exclusively for Model 3. It incorporates red LEDs encased in a waterproof plastic base and covered with 'chrome' Tesla "T" badging that has the size and curvature of the OEM logo. The OEM logo is removed (it is attached by adhesive). Two 0.125" drill holes are created (a precise template is provided for this activity), and the new Lighted "T" is connected to the wiring harness for the rear lights.
The Lighted "T" provides two (2) wiring options:
Option 1. The Lighted "T" will illuminate with full brightness whenever the headlights are on, but is not connected to the brake lights and will NOT brighten further when you depress the brake pedal.
Option 2. The Lighted "T" will illuminate with slightly diminished brightness whenever the headlights are on. It is also connected to the brake lights and will brighten further when you depress the brake pedal.
The Lighted "T" is provided in two pieces: (1) a base piece that is wired with black and red 20 gauge wire, and (2) an arch piece that is wired with black and red 20 gauge wire. Both pieces are connected to the Model 3 electrical harness using an installation approach defined for either Option 1 or Option 2 discussed earlier.
• Lighted "T" and Arch with wiring (bag includes wire harness and drilling template)
• 3 Posi-Tap Connectors, 18-23 gauge, 3 Posi-Loc Connectors, 18-23 gauge
• 3 feet Spectra nylon parachute thread for 'sawing off' the OEM Tesla logo adhesive
• 5 spare blue/green plastic retainer clips for the trunk hatch molding
• Small tube of clear silicone sealant to seal drill holes
• 3 small (4 in.) zip ties for who wish to connect to the brake light circuit (see Installation for Option #2)
• 6-foot (approx.) 20awg wire for those who wish to connect to the brake light circuit (see Installation for Option #2)
• A wire harness for those who wish to connect to the brake light circuit (see Installation for Option #2)
• A positioning and drilling template used for installation (inside bag containing Lighted "T")
The Lighted "T" requires professional installation.
Installation videos and written instructions are for your professional installer and can be found below. There are two (2) Installation Options for Lighted "T":
Option 1. The Lighted "T" is will illuminate with full brightness whenever the headlights are on, but is not connected to the brake lights and will NOT brighten further when you depress the brake pedal. For Option 1, the Lighted "T" is connected to the OEM license plate lighting circuit.
Option 2. The Lighted "T" is will illuminate with slightly diminished brightness whenever the headlights are on. It is also connected to the brake lights and will brighten further when you depress the brake pedal. For Option 2, the Lighted "T" is connected (via a wiring harness) to both the OEM license plate lighting circuit and the brake light circuit.

Is the installation of the Lighted "T" a DIY (Do It Yourself) project?
No, we strongly recommend that you use a professional installer. Therefore, professional installation is required.
Where can I find a professional installer?
There are many competent aftermarket installation locations (they often specialize in car audio installs) in your locale. It may be helpful to locate a professional installer who has had experience with the Tesla Model 3 and comes recommended by others. We've created extensive installation materials (including a detailed installation video, see 'Installation' tab) in order to assist a professional installer with guidance as he/she installs Lighted "T."

How long will it take a professional to install the Lighted "T"?
Installation is a job for a professional installer. However, for a professional, it’s a relatively straightforward task (as we've provided both written and video instructions) that can be completed in a relatively short time frame. The Lighted "T" requires between 1 and 2 hours of work for Option 1 installation with another hour or so for Option 2 installation. However, we advise that you ask your professional installer to provide an estimate as timeframe and pricing may vary from installer to installer.
How much should professional installation cost?
We suggest you get an upfront quote from your professional installer, but, typically prices can range from $60/hr. - $150/hr. depending on your location.
What is the difference between Option and Option 2 installation?
Option 1. The Lighted "T" is will illuminate with full brightness whenever the headlights are on, but is not connected to the brake lights and will NOT brighten further when you depress the brake pedal.
Option 2. The Lighted "T" is will illuminate with slightly diminished brightness whenever the headlights are on. It is also connected to the brake lights and will brighten further when you depress the brake pedal.
I like the rear Lighted "T", but why haven't you developed a front Lighted "T" as well?
We did consider a front Lighted "T" as well as the rear Lighted "T", but decided after testing that: (1) the installation would be difficult and (2) the result would be aesthetically inappropriate. There is no power source in the frunk hood itself. That means that power would have to be channeled across the gap between the frunk hood and the lower frunk (there is power in the front of the frunk) or from a power source in the fire wall. In both cases, wiring across the gap in the area of the lift struts would be difficult and prone to failure. The lighted “T” is approximately 7 mm high, meaning that it would visually "pop-out" of the frunk. This would not be pleasing aesthetically, given that the OEM logo is 1.6mm in thickness. We also considered a “T” for the no-grill nose area, but decided that this violated the design language that Tesla established for Model 3. Hence, no front Lighted "T".
What kind of modifications to my car does installation of the Lighted "T" require?
Very few. Each Lighted "T" consists of an injection molded plastic shell that is positioned where the OEM logo "T" is located. It is attached with high bond double sided adhesive tape. The factory 'chrome' "T" is removed and two 1/8-inch holes are drilled in the trunk lid for the wiring, but the holes are positioned so they are not visible. The Lighted "T" includes its own chrome "T" identical in size to the OEM "T."
What is the thickness of the EVANNEX Lighted "T" when compared to the OEM logo "T" on the trunk hatch?
The OEM logo "T" is approximately 2mm thick. The EVANNEX Lighted "T" is approximately 7mm thick. The additional thickness is required to accommodate the plastic casing that contains the LEDs that create the red halo effect. The additional thickness blends well with the hatch curvature and does not create any aesthetic issues.
Will the Lighted "T" remain on during the day?
The Lighted "T" will be illuminated whenever your car's headlights are on. In general, it will be noticeable at dusk and at night (when the lights are on). If Option 2 installation is chosen, the Lighted "T" will illuminate whenever the brake pedal is depressed, but will be most visible at night.
Will the Lighted "T" illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed?
If Option 1 installation is chosen, the Lighted "T" will NOT illuminate when the brake pedal is pressed. However, if Option 2 installation is chosen and the Lighted "T" will brighten when the brake pedal is pressed.
Is Option 2 installation more difficult than Option 2 installation?
Many of the initial installation steps are the same, but Option 2 also requires the additional removal of the top trunk molding, the interior rear passenger side panel. The brake light circuit must be tapped, and a brake lead wire (provided) must be threaded from the brake lights up and along the passenger side trunk hinge and into the trunk hatch. Finally, a custom wiring harness (provided) is attached to connect the Lighted "T" to both the license plate lighting circuit and the brake light circuit.
Will the Lighted "T" affect the functioning of my car’s electrical system?
No. The Ts are powered by the car’s 12V system and connections are made to existing 12V lines and ground.
How much electrical power does the Lighted "T" require when it is illuminated? How about when it is off?
The Lighted "T" draws very little power, only hundreds of milliamps. When it is off it consumes no power.
Will the Lighted "T" run down my 12V battery?
No. The current draw of the "T" is so low that it would take (estimated) about a month to drain the 12V battery if it were turned on and car was not plugged in or driven.
How will operation of the Lighted "T" be affected by wet and inclement weather?
Not a bit. The "T" is completely waterproof and not affected by extreme cold or heat.
Will the Lighted T’s violate traffic and/or other vehicle laws in my state?
No. The colors and position of the Lighted T's meets state safety laws regarding rear lights.
Will the Lighted "T" leak toxic or other foreign material that might damage my car?
None of the chemical or physical properties of the Lighted "T" can damage the car or its painted surfaces. Both are made of inert plastic and waterproofed with epoxy in a hardened state.
How will the Lighted "T" affect service on my car?
Not at all. They will not interfere with routine service protocols.
What happens if my Lighted "T" doesn’t work or seems to have something wrong with it?
Hundreds of Lighted Ts have been sold ito Model 3 owners, and the failure rate for these devices is extremely low, but if your Lighted "T" fails or functions improperly immediately after your professional installer installs the product, please have your professional installer contact us at EVANNEX for guidance/advice.
Does installation require permanent changes to my car that can’t be reversed?
No. The lighted Ts can be removed at any time, the wiring disconnected and removed, and the OEM chrome "T" placed back in its original position, completely covering the small drill holes and restoring the car to its original condition.
Can the Lighted "T" be vandalized or stolen off my car?
Nothing is vandal proof, but the Lighted "T" is very difficult to remove without knowledge of how it has been attached.
Will the Lighted "T" affect my electrical system or create problems such as electrical shorts if it gets wet?
No. Aside from being protected by the car’s fuse system the Lighted "T" is completely waterproof.
What if my installer has questions that I can’t answer?
We have provided written and video installation instructions that can help guide a professional in the installation of the Lighted "T." Please have your professional installer reference the "Installation" tab on this page (prior to his install). Note: detailed written instructions are also provided in the package you'll receive post-order. If there are other questions, please contact us.
What provides the light for the Lighted Ts?
The Lighted "T" is lit by miniature LEDS arrayed on a "T" shaped printed circuit board that is embedded in the injection molded plastic shell.
When I buy the Lighted "T," is everything needed for installation included – wiring, connectors, etc?
Yes, all parts required for installation are included – wire, connectors, wiring, custom cut double sided tape, even a small tube of silicone sealant, etc (see "Installation" tab). Every installation may vary slightly and as a consequence your installer might use an additional connector or some other item not in the kit.
